I’m a firm believer that technology has not really changed but simply amplified the way business is transcribed. For example, not too long ago before Facebook, websites or e-mails there was no Internet. If you wanted to know which Baker made the best apple pie in town we would ask our friends and family for their opinion. Based on what they said we would form our own opinion, possibly drive by a few storefronts to see if they were appealing to us, then decided where we’re going to spend our money. Business was very social then and is very social now. What was word-of-mouth before is now Facebook comments and testimonials on websites. Your storefront which is your website today, even if you have a physical location or you just representing yourself, your website is the first impression people will have of you. Because business is so technologically driven it’s important to make sure that your website has the five basic must haves that any website for whatever business would need.
Make sure your phone number is large and visible
having your phone number out there is something I feel is important. People want to be able to pick up the phone and deal with a live person. This goes based off the fact that people make purchase decisions through relationships that they developed with different sellers. People can buy a hammer anywhere but where they choose to purchase it is based off the relationship they have with the store. Make yourself available to develop a relationship with your clients and our prospects by making your phone number large, visible and clear on your contact page or every page if you choose.
Make it easy for them to contact you right on the site
people today want instant gratification. It seems if it’s not as easy as the push of a button then a lot of people don’t want to bother. Set up a form on your contacts page where people can e-mail or reach out to you through text directly on your site. It’s also a good note to set up an autoresponder where a reply that their message was received is sent out immediately. Some people might be too intimidated to reach out to you verbally so it’s always a good note to give people the option of voice or text in reaching out to you.
Give them the visual graphics they want
I have come to see people getting lazier and lazier when it comes to consuming information. No longer does anybody want to sit through and read a long lengthy article online when they can easily watch a five minute video and get a much better understanding. It’s important to make sure your website is visually appealing by incorporating lots of pictures, videos and graphics. You don’t want to go crazy with it, but do make sure it’s personable and related to your product and/or service. As the saying goes a picture is worth 1000 words.
Give them value before they pull out their wallet
everybody wants to feel like they’re getting their money’s worth. Since nothing is better priced than free, make your prospects feel like they’re getting a hell of a bargain just by knowing about you. I would put informative articles, videos, courses and/or instructional guides related to your product or service. Give them information they didn’t even know they needed but could greatly use. By giving individuals good value you come off as trustworthy. If someone or business is trustworthy than I am willing to spend my money there.
There is no better marketing than word-of-mouth
word-of-mouth today can come from many different ways. For your website you have a few options. You can have customers or clients gave reviews. I would recommend a few video testimonials describing the experience they had and the joy it brought them. I would also enable Facebook comments to be integrated with your website. People enjoy talking about new products or services they found. Be it a good remark or a better mark people freely tell their friends how they feel about something. Give them the opportunity to spread the word about website, business, product and/or service
